Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says former president Jacob Zuma has undermined the laws of the country, over his meeting with the Guptas. Zuma’s trip to India has drawn widespread scrutiny following media reports from that country that he met with Ajay Gupta and South Africa’s High Commissioner to India. The Zondo Commission identified Ajay Gupta as a central architect of South Africa’s state capture.

International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola also says his department is seeking clarity on the High Commissioner’s involvement.
“You’d recall that SA has applied for mutual assistance to bring the fugitive Gupta brothers into the country. Therefore, it’s a level of disgrace that our own employee – the representative of the government of SA hangs out with criminals instead of doing his work to ensure that the fugitives are brought to book and face their criminal act. It is for that reason that the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, has not only requested for a report from the official but also indicated that drastic steps will be taken to make sure that nobody undermines the laws of this country whilst representing this country,” says Ntshavheni.
