The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular and valuable sports franchises in the world, which can sometimes be a double-edged sword. Being so recognizable brings attention, and although owner Jerry Jones believes all attention is good for business, it also allows innumerable opportunities for his team and the fanbase to be mocked.
With AT&T Stadium one of several hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, one of the FOX Soccer analysts couldn’t help but take a shot at the Cowboys and their recent drought. Former Danish goaltender Kasper Schmeichel poked fun at the Cowboys, comparing England’s national soccer team to Dallas for not winning enough.
Yeah… stick to Soccer. Don’t compare England to the Dallas Cowboys.

While the Cowboys make for an easy target, Schmeichel’s assessment isn’t accurate from a long-suffering .
Currently, England is the fourth-ranked team in the world, and they have only one World Cup championship to their name, which occurred in 1966. That’s a 60-year dry spell for a team that’s usually a Top 10 team in the world.
On Wednesday, despite being heavily favored, England needed to score two late goals to come from behind and beat Congo DR to advance to the Round of 16.
The Cowboys have had much more success than England. The franchise didn’t exist until 1960 and has five Super Bowl titles to their name, with the last one coming in 1995. That’s a dry spell nearly half as long as England’s and the Cowboys have won four more championships.
While it’s not the same circumstances with the World Cup only being played every four years, the Cowboys have had more success than England.
The point is well taken, though. Both teams have struggled to win big since the turn of the century and it’s well-known how the Cowboys haven’t even been in the NFC title game in 31 years. England was last in the final four of the World Cup in 2018, but before that, they hadn’t appeared in the last four in 28 years.
No shot at the Cowboys sits well with fans these days, and the lack of real success from the team in the last 30 years is a sore subject. Until the team wins the Lombardi Trophy again, there’s nothing they can do to make the jokes stop.
It takes a thick skin to be a Dallas Cowboys fan these days.
