The Washington Huskies had been looking for additional reinforcements at quarterback in the 2027 class, but saw the only other target on their board, three-star Caden Jones, commit to the Arizona Wildcats on Friday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound product of Crean Lutheran High School in Southern California, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 613 overall prospect and No. 36 quarterback by the 247Sports Composite, chose coach Brent Brennan’s program over Baylor and Washington after taking official visits to all three programs.
Jedd Fisch and the Huskies had made a significant push for Jones, hosting him on several unofficial visits before he returned to Seattle on an official trip over the June 5 weekend. Several members of the UW coaching staff, including quarterbacks coach JP Losman, also took a handful of trips to visit with the talented two-sport athlete, who also held an offer from coach Danny Sprinkle and the basketball team.
Blessed and grateful for this process and everyone that has supported me. With that, I will be committing to University of Arizona! BTFD! @ArizonaFBall@GregBiggins@adamgorney@ChadSimmons_@TomLoy247@BlairAngulo@Zack_Poff_MP@BrandonHuffman@CoachDoege@CoachBrennanpic.twitter.com/nwoMkLM3NN

However, with four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf already committed, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Jones chose the Wildcats, where his older brother, Carter, plays linebacker. If he did, it would have signaled that a major overhaul in the quarterback room may be coming following the 2026 season.
No matter what Demond Williams Jr. decided to do, with Stanford transfer Elijah Brown, redshirt freshmen Treston Kini McMillan and Dash Beierly, and true freshman Derek Zammit all battling for the same spot, the addition of a second quarterback would most likely have led to some significant turnover at the position.
Jones is one of three Crean Lutheran products with a Washington offer to choose Fisch’s former program, along with four-star wide receiver Ty Johnson and three-star cornerback Evan Mack. Coincidentally, that group is also the three highest-ranked pledges, per 247Sports, in Brennan’s No. 62-ranked class.
