This is the third update of Mike Bianco’s off-season shopping and boy, has he done some shopping.
As we know, the returning position players consist of Hayden Federico in the outfield, Owen Paino and Dom Decker in the middle infield and Austin Fawley (if he doesn’t get drafted) behind the dish. Trey Hawsey comes in from LA Tech to man first base and Blake Fields from Houston will like take an outfield spot, leaving third base and one more outfield spot to fill.
Brett Moseley joined Brayden Randle and Tate Sirmans as outgoing transfers while guys like Topher Jones, Luke Romine, Bryden Bull and Cannon Goldin have yet to announce decisions.
Coach Bianco has continued to add to his transfer class as the MLB Draft approaches.
Brent Stukes of USC Upstate joins a pitching staff that is expected to be decimated by the draft. The right handed junior finished 8-3 in 16 starts with a 5.35 ERA and 56 strikeouts.
Perhaps the most interesting addition to the pitching staff is sophomore righty Andrew Rogovic from Northeastern. He made 23 appearances, 21 out of the pen, and had 60 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched. He had a 4.31 ERA and a nasty .169 batting average against.
Kendall Hoffman is the second addition from Houston, joining outfield Blake Fields. The 6-6 sophomore righty will likely be featured in the weekend rotation right away. He pitched 79 innings to the tune a 4.56 ERA last year for the Cougars.
We all just love to add players from Clemson these days and after the season Tristan Bissetta just had, why not double dip? Jason Fultz was the primary third baseman as a freshman last season for the Tigers. He only hit .231 with one home run but will have the opportunity with his glove to join Paino on the left side of the diamond.
