The Miami Heat made the biggest move of the offseason, and considering how crazy this offseason has been, that’s saying something.
The team successfully won the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, but in return, depleted the depth on this roster. A starting trio of Andrew Wiggins, Giannis, and Bam Adebayo is certainly intriguing, but the Heat really need to bolster the backup unit.
Luckily, there are still some quality options available, including some who wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Heat should sign Bradley Beal
Bradley Beal is among the most intriguing options still on the board. It’s been a tumultuous couple of years for Beal, who was unceremoniously dumped by the Phoenix Suns ahead of the 2025-26 season, and suffered a season-ending injury shortly after signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.
However, when healthy, Beal is a difference-maker. The guard is a three-time All Star and a one-time All-NBA selection. Also, Heat insiders have already reported that the Heat have “had discussions” with Beal’s camp.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently predicted landing spots for some top free agents, and he thinks Beal to the Heat makes too much sense to not happen.
Buckley offered the following:
Beal certainly offers some name recognition, and his accolades impress. Along with those All-star selections, he has twice been a 30-points-per-game scorer, a quantity-plus-quality shooter and a rock-solid secondary playmaker.
Still, Miami is bargain-shopping in hopes of constructing a competitive roster around the costly pairing of Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, so Beal might be the kind of risk-reward investment the Heat hope to make if the price is right.
As Buckley mentioned, Beal is a proven veteran who would be a nice addition to the rotation. With Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, and Tyler Herro being sent out, there are plenty of minutes to dish out.
Miami could be a perfect spot for Beal to rebuild his value. It would also give the veteran another chance to compete, as he’s spent most of his time in the NBA playing for non-competitive teams.
Without Beal, the Heat are currently slated to either start new addition Tim Hardaway Jr. or Pelle Larsson at the two spot. Beal would alleviate some pressure there and give a scoring punch that is currently missing.
