Dear Roker Report,
I’ve just received an email stating that my purchased stone in Legends Way will not be laid, as it’s not part of this summer’s phase of the construction. (See attached screenshot.)
So, does this mean that Legends Way will not actually be complete for the start of the season? We were never given any information about it being a phased project, and the statement about order volumes not being enough to fulfil a section is a bit worrying.
As proud as I’ll be to have my family’s names at the ground as part of the club’s legacy, it’s fairly disappointing that it won’t happen when I was expecting. It also doesn’t look great if we’re going into arguably the biggest season in the club’s history, with all eyes on us, and Legends Way is only partially completed.
Food for thought!

Ed’s Note [Gav]: I’ve seen a few people in the same boat as you Andrew, including lads from Roker Report that bought their stones on the day they were put on sale! Unfortunately, the club have covered themselves by sticking all this information in the FAQ section of the Legends Way website. Still, I’ve got no idea if that information was up on the site when everything first went on sale. Either way, I totally understand the disappointment.
Dear Roker Report,
Can you believe it? Less than one year since we signed him, Xhaka could be leaving us to join the poisoned chalice that is Chelsea.
Like everyone else connected with the club, I’m praying he says no and stays where he is genuinely loved and wanted. Anyone who witnessed the extraordinary scenes at the end of the last game of the season – where, ironically, we beat Chelsea – will surely have seen just how awestruck he was by the supporters’ hero’s reception.
I get that football is fickle, and I understand that money talks, but he is already a very wealthy man and has a good future lined up with us when he eventually hangs up his boots.
What can he realistically hope to achieve at Chelsea? He would be walking into a dressing room that has swallowed up many good players in recent years, and a club where egos seem to dominate. I honestly believe this guy has more about him than most footballers. He speaks our language, and he gets us.
He understands that we value players who give 100% far more than any so-called superstar giving 50%, so what could possibly be the attraction?
Granted, London is London, and it has all the attractions that money can buy. But when it all comes down to it, he’d be crossing that white line every week in front of what I believe to be the most arrogant, self-entitled and toxic supporters in the Premier League.
Why on earth would he swap all of that for perhaps two seasons when he could stay here, where he has genuine affinity with the club and supporters and, as I’ve mentioned before, would surely be offered a role once his playing days come to an end?
I just don’t get it, and I sincerely hope it’s simply media hype.

Ed’s Note [Gav]: I don’t get it either, to be honest. Wey, I understand he lived a long time in London and has a great relationship with Xabi Alonso, but the things he said to us on the final day – AFTER Alonso had already been appointed by Chelsea – don’t tally when you read stuff saying he’s desperate to sign for them. I get that things change but as quickly as this?!
