Broncos Wire‘s 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie offensive lineman Kage Casey, No. 78.
Before the Broncos: Casey was a four-year player with the Boise State Broncos in the Mountain West, playing in 46 career games. Casey was part of the offensive line which made now-Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty a Heisman Trophy candidate in 2024.
In 2023, Casey was a second-team All-Mountain West honoree before leveling up in 2024 and 2025, when he was named a first-team All-Mountain West player. Casey participated in the 2025 NFL combine, running a 5.20 40-yard dash, which was good for middle of the pack among offensive linemen. Casey primarily played left tackle in college, but he also has experience inside.
Broncos tenure: The Denver Broncos were not shy about their interest in offensive linemen heading into the 2026 NFL draft. Subsequently, they drafted Casey in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2026 NFL draft. The last time Denver selected a tackle out of Boise State, it turned out very well; Ryan Clady was a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time AP first-team All-Pro selection when he was a first-round pick in 2008. Fittingly, Casey chose No. 78 after Clady, who spent nearly his entire career with Denver. Casey will make his Bronco debut during preseason this summer.
Chances to make the 53-man roster: High. Casey has the strong potential to make the 53-man roster as a backup in 2026, shadowing the likes of Garett Bolles, who he models his game after, and Mike McGlinchey. History suggests Casey, along with the other members of the 2026 draft class, has strong odds to make the roster. With the Broncos‘ offensive line getting older and more expensive, Casey could represent a promising young, long-term option.
