Paul George was traded on Wednesday night, but that wasn’t the headline.
Instead, this was the “Jaylen Brown trade” — the Celtics sending Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers.
George was just a part of the return, along with draft picks.
It’s not the first time George has been a part of a crazy trade, though. In fact, it’s happened three times.
When you look at what was sent back in return from George in those three deals, he has an odd and convoluted case to be called something like that “most valuable player in NBA history.”

Paul George trade history
The first trade came in 2017 when George was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In return, the Pacers got Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis.
Sabonis was eventually dealt for Tyrese Haliburton, who in turn led Indiana to the NBA Finals.

The Thunder then traded George to the Clippers in 2019 as L.A. paired PG13 with Kawhi Leonard.
The Thunder got Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in return, along with a handful of first-round picks, one of which became Jalen Williams.
And as you know, OKC won the NBA title led by SGA and Williams.
Now, he goes from the 76ers (who he signed with as a free agent) to the Celtics).
Brown, a former Finals MVP, goes to the 76ers. Given how this has gone on the flip side of other George trades, that might be great news for Brown and the ‘Sixers.
