
Russian forces launched a wide overnight assault across Ukraine on 2 July, striking Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa oblast and Kirovohrad oblast within hours of each other, according to regional military administrations and Ukraine’s Air Force.
Kherson: driver wounded in drone strike
Russian troops attacked a car with a drone at around 5:50 a.m. in Kherson’s Tsentralnyi district, the Kherson City Military Administration reported on Facebook. A 58-year-old man was wounded, sustaining a concussion, blast and closed head injuries, and shrapnel wounds. He is hospitalized in moderate condition, according to the administration. Zaporizhzhia: shopping mall damaged
Russian forces struck a shopping mall in one of Zaporizhzhia’s districts on the morning of 2 July, damaging the rear of the building, regional military administration head Ivan Fedorov said. No casualties were reported.
Odesa: two districts left without water
An emergency power outage knocked out water supply to Odesa’s Prymorskyi and Khadzhybeiskyi districts, the Infoksvodokanal utility company said at 8:05 am. Water pressure also dropped in the Kyivskyi district. The company said restoring electricity to the affected water infrastructure was underway but gave no timeline for full restoration. City utility services later said water tankers had been deployed to four addresses across the city.
Kirovohrad oblast: farm equipment damaged
Air defense shot down Russian drones over Kirovohrad oblast overnight into 2 July, regional military administration head Andriy Raikovych said, adding that fires broke out in open areas and were extinguished, with agricultural machinery damaged. He reported no casualties. Air raid alerts sounded in the region for much of the night, from 7:33 pm on 1 July to past 10 am on 2 July, with several gaps.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia attacked the country overnight with 496 attack drones and 74 missiles, including four Zircon anti-ship missiles, 24 Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, 34 Kh-101 cruise missiles, four Kh-59/69 guided air missiles and eight Kalibr cruise missiles. Air defenses downed 48 missiles and 476 drones; strikes from 25 ballistic missiles and 12 drones were recorded at 33 locations, with debris falling in 18 more.
