The Detroit Pistons had a busy start to 2026 NBA free agency, even if much of the work is being done quietly behind the scenes. While many NBA fans continue to play the wait-and-see game on how talks with center Jalen Duren pan out, the Pistons also addressed a potential area of need in the early hours on Wednesday, July 1. As ESPN’s Shams Charania reported, the Pistons agreed to terms on a three-year, $51 million deal with former Los Angeles Clippers forward John Collins.
The Collins signing is noteworthy, especially given the fact that he’s been a longtime starter in the NBA, and according to Charania, the Pistons “pursued Collins as their top target to assume an expected starting role at power forward.”
