The Madlanga Commission has heard that suspended deputy Crime Intelligence head Major General Feroz Khan is unconscious, sedated, and unable to give instructions following Sunday’s shooting in Houghton in Johannesburg.
Khan was scheduled to testify before the Commission on Wednesday.
Khan’s legal counsel, Zubair Khan, has brought an application to the Madlanga Commission to have his testimony heard in camera.
The application is being opposed by evidence leader Advocate Adila Hassim.
Advocate Zubair Khan invited the Commission’s chairperson and commissioners to visit his client in hospital to satisfy themselves that he is in a critical condition.
“There are allegations that this is a contrived shooting and that General Khan is in fact lying relaxed in hospital eating jelly, that we invite the chairperson and all the further commissioners to have access to him in hospital and to speak to his medical attendants, and verify and satisfy yourself that he is in fact in an extremely critical situation, as set out in the J88.”
