Endrick has once again found himself at the centre of attention after helping Brazil secure a dramatic 2-1 victory over Japan in the World Cup Round of 32.
Brazil were pushed all the way by a disciplined Japanese side before finding a route back into the contest through Casemiro’s equaliser and Gabriel Martinelli’s stoppage-time winner.
The introduction of Endrick in the second half proved influential, with the young forward adding energy and creativity after replacing the injured Lucas Paqueta.
His latest performance has inevitably reignited discussions surrounding the Endrick Real Madrid debate, particularly as uncertainty continues over his role next season.
Endrick reflects on Lyon spell
The Brazilian youngster spent the past six months on loan at Lyon, a move that allowed him to gain valuable first-team experience and regain confidence after struggling for opportunities at Real Madrid.
Speaking in the mixed zone following Brazil’s victory, Endrick reflected on that period and acknowledged the impact it had on his career.

“I wasn’t playing at Real Madrid and, thank God, I was able to leave. I’m very grateful to Lyon for helping me, for opening their doors to me.
For allowing me to show what I can do on the pitch and to make it to the World Cup,” he said, as per Mundo Deportivo.
The attacker also admitted that the last few months have transformed his trajectory.
“I’m very happy, very pleased. I’m very grateful to God because it’s been an incredible six months in my life. Six months in which my story has changed a little.”
It must be noted that even though the Endrick transfer news has generated plenty of speculation in recent weeks, Real Madrid’s position appears increasingly defined.

Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid plans include the Brazilian forward, with the Portuguese coach counting on Endrick for the upcoming campaign.

The feeling within the club is that another temporary move would no longer provide significant benefits, especially after his productive spell in Ligue 1.
Endrick is expected to return to Madrid for pre-season and begin adapting to Mourinho’s demands ahead of the new season.
Returning to the World Cup match, the Brazilian also praised Carlo Ancelotti after the national team manager’s tactical decision helped change the match against Japan.
“I’m very grateful to the manager; he knows his stuff, he knows what you’re going to do.
“He brought me on at half-time to help the team turn the game around and come out on top,” he concluded.
