There is increased traffic flow on the N1 between Pretoria and Polokwane.
This as undocumented migrants are being ferried by buses from various centres to the repatriation centre at the Beitbridge Border Post in Musina, Limpopo.
The provincial Transport Department spokesperson, Mashudu Mabata, says traffic volumes have picked up since the weekend following the start of the school winter holidays.
“The department encourages all travellers to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy before travelling by checking tyres, brakes, lights, and the validity of the vehicle licence disc. Obey all traffic laws, do not speed, drink and drive, overload your vehicle, or use a cellphone while driving. Get adequate rest before embarking on your journey and take regular breaks to prevent driver fatigue. Plan your trip in advance and allow extra travel time due to expected traffic congestion.”
