Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has condemned the attempted assassination of suspended senior Crime Intelligence officer Major-General Feroz Khan.
The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage, and no arrest has been made.
Khan has been implicated in high-profile cases of corruption, illicit precious metals, and the controversial 2021 Aeroton drug bust.
He was due to appear before the Madlanga Commission on Wednesday.
Dimpane has assured the public that no resource will be spared in identifying, tracing and arresting those responsible.
National Police Spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe says, “This investigation is being led by the Gauteng Hawks, Gauteng Crime Intelligence and the SAPS Detective Service. Acting National Commissioner has further directed that the Political Killings Task Team be incorporated into the investigation to ensure that every possible lead is pursued and that those responsible are brought to book. Lieutenant General Dimpane has wished Major General Khan a speedy recovery and her thoughts are also with his family during this period.”

Meanwhile, independent policing and crime analyst, Dr Mxolisi Mathebula, believes the sitting of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry should be extended by at least six months to accommodate the delays.
Mathebula’s comment follows the Major-General Khan’s shooting.
“We still have the likes of Senzo Mchunu, the likes of Mr Carrim, the likes of Mr Van Wyk and now General Khan. And it is not possible for General Khan to recover within a month because the commission has almost a month to wrap up its work and it would not be possible because we would like to hear from the likes of General Khan, because he has been implicated in a number of other incidents, especially the Aeroton drug bust case. We want to know what happened there,” says Mathebula.
