The Oklahoma Sooners had a great bounce-back season in Year 4 under head coach Brent Venables.
Venables led the Sooners to a 10-3 record in Oklahoma’s second year in the SEC, following a 6-7 record in 2024. The impressive season also saw the Sooners return to the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2019.
While it was an impressive season for the Sooners and Venables, he’s not getting the love nationally for his coaching job. In fact, college football analyst Josh Pate ranks Venables as the No. 8 best coach in the SEC, behind coaches like Vanderbilt Commodores’ Clark Lea and Missouri Tigers‘ Eli Drinkwitz.
