The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality has assured employees and residents that it is not facing a cash-flow crisis and remains financially stable after the municipality failed to pay June salaries on time.
In a statement released by the city manager, Sello More the municipality says the delay in salary payments was caused by temporary technical and administrative challenges within its payment processing system and not by a lack of funds.
More has apologised on behalf of municipal management for the inconvenience caused.
He says the municipality remains fully operational, and officials are working to resolve the matter.
