The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed Isaiah Hartenstein to a three-year contract extension, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal will keep him around through the 2028-29 season. The agreement brings $75 million in new money over the next three years — plus a maximum 15% trade kicker and a mutual option that allows both parties to rework the agreement again before the final season.
Looks like the Thunder are doing a lot of their offseason work early. This was one of the bigger decisions they needed to make as Hartenstein had a $28.5 million team option for the 2026-27 season. In total, he will have $134 million guaranteed in his five years in OKC.
Boom. Don’t think anybody is too shocked by the Thunder and Hartenstein re-upping things this summer. The 28-year-old has been a key starter for them over the last two seasons. He helped them win the 2025 NBA championship. In his two seasons, he’s averaged 10.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
The Thunder have changed their dynamic since Hartenstein arrived two summers ago — and for the better. His size at the center position and rebounding have been huge pluses for them as they continue to compete in this championship window. As OKC’s payroll is about to balloon, it remains committed to competing for trophies with this signing — at least for the next couple of years, it sounds like.
