Hundreds of foreign nationals have gathered at Pretoria’s Bosman Station, trying to secure transport back to their home countries ahead of the 30th of June planned protests by certain organizations against illegal immigrants.
Many, including families with young children, say they no longer feel safe and have been waiting in cold conditions for buses that are often already full.
A Malawian mother says she fears for her life, after spending the night at Bosman Station with her baby while trying to flee the country.
“Since we here yesterday, and we got money. But we ask the bus, there is no buses to go to Malawi. So, when we see Malawian buses, they are full, we ask that maybe we go via Harare so we can get another bus to Malawi. But when we reach here, there is no bus and we got babies, small babies. We sleep here during cold because we are scared because of 30 June. So, we are asking, please help us because no blanket, so it’s not fair to us. We are asking, please.”
