The Jacksonville Jaguars won 13 games last season, won the AFC South title, and are generating legitimate optimism under Liam Coen. Yet nationally, the Jaguars still aren’t viewed as a roster loaded with elite talent.
CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco released his annual top 100 list for 2026, and just two members of the Jaguars roster made the list: Josh Hines-Allen and Trevor Lawrence.
Whether that’s a reflection of a roster built more on depth than star power, or a sign that Jacksonville still has more to prove nationally, is not entirely clear, but it’s likely a combination of the two.
Of Hines-Allen, who came in at No. 53, Prisco noted, “For the second straight season, he had eight sacks after posting 17.5 in 2023. He was among the league leaders in pressures, but it’s the sacks that get the attention. He’s also good against the run.”
Lawrence ranked even lower, at No. 65, which is interesting, given that he was nominated for the NFL MVP award last season. Prisco explained, “He finally flashed the star power in 2025 that many expected when he was the first overall pick in 2021. Lawrence finished fifth in the MVP voting, but didn’t really get going until Week 8 as he learned yet another new offense.”
Having just these two players on Prisco’s Top 100 certainly suggests Jacksonville still has something to prove nationally, which is a mindset that Coen focused heavily on last season. He consistently took being overlooked and disrespected and told his players to use it as fuel to prove the league wrong.
However, the rankings also align with the identity the Jaguars have been trying to build: one centered on depth, collaboration, and teamwork rather than relying on a handful of star players, as most recently highlighted by wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett, explaining, “If you want the rock, as they say, you got to block, you got to do your part, being a good teammate.”
If the Jaguars’ approach is right, the best way to climb lists like Prisco’s won’t be through individual accolades, but by continuing to win as a team.
