LSU football missed on the top offensive line recruit in Louisiana. Five-star Albert Simien committed to Notre Dame on Friday, picking the Fighting Irish over Texas A&M and LSU.
Simien’s announcement didn’t catch LSU off guard. The Tigers faded in the race for Simien months ago and most reports narrowed the battle down to Notre Dame and Texas A&M. Ultimately, Marcus Freeman and staff won out for the five-star.
Rivals’ Industry Rankings slots Simien at No. 2 among offensive linemen and No. 20 overall in the 2027 cycle. A native of Lake Charles, LA, Simien is Louisiana’s No. 3 prospect. He plays at Sam Houston High School.
With Simien’s decision, LSU has officially missed on the state’s top three prospects. No. 1 Easton Royal and No. 2 Elijah Haven are committed to Texas and Alabama, respectively. But the Tigers still have commitments from four of the state’s top-10 players.
LSU remains in the mix for Royal, and the Tigers will do their best to flip the talented pass catcher.
