The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) successfully hosted the FIFA Elite Youth Coaches Workshop and FIFA Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches Workshop from 15 to 19 June 2026, bringing together 32 participants from across Singapore’s football ecosystem for an intensive week of learning, collaboration and professional development.
Conducted under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme framework, the workshops aimed to strengthen the capabilities of coaches working with Singapore’s most promising young players and goalkeepers, while fostering greater alignment in youth development philosophies and practices.
Held over five days, participants took part in a comprehensive programme comprising both classroom-based and practical on-pitch sessions. Each day featured four dedicated learning modules, providing coaches with opportunities to deepen their understanding of talent development, coaching methodology and player progression pathways.

The Elite Youth Coaches Workshop focused on equipping coaches with the knowledge and tools required to create high-performance environments for talented young players. Key areas covered included session design and evaluation, talent identification and scouting criteria, as well as coaching and playing principles. Discussions also explored broader themes such as youth national team development, academy structures and the importance of creating meaningful competitive opportunities for emerging players.
Running concurrently, the Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches Workshop provided specialised development opportunities for coaches responsible for nurturing the next generation of goalkeepers. Participants examined topics such as FIFA’s WASI Model for goalkeeper session design, planning and periodisation, while also taking part in participant-led practical sessions that encouraged knowledge sharing and peer learning.

A key takeaway from the workshop was the importance of integrating goalkeeping considerations into wider session planning and design, rather than viewing goalkeeping as a separate component of team development. By fostering greater collaboration between outfield and goalkeeper coaches, the programme emphasised a more holistic approach to player development and match preparation.
Beyond the technical content, both workshops provided a valuable platform for coaches to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and share best practices. The collaborative environment encouraged meaningful conversations around player development and strengthened connections between coaches working across different levels of the game.

The workshops form part of FAS’ ongoing commitment to raising coaching standards and enhancing the development pathway for young footballers in Singapore. By investing in the education and growth of coaches, FAS continues to support the creation of positive learning environments that enable players to maximise their potential both on and off the pitch.
FAS would like to thank FIFA, the workshop facilitators and all participating coaches for their commitment, engagement and contributions throughout the week.
