Businessman Vusumuzi “Cat” Matlala has pleaded guilty to all charges against him in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday.
He faces serious charges of corruption, fraud, and money laundering related to a R228 million contract his company secured from the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Matlala has also pleaded guilty on behalf of his company, Medicare 24.
Additionally, he is expected to enter into a plea and sentencing agreement with the state, which may influence the outcome of his case that involves 16 others – including senior police officers.
Matlala responded to all the charges against him.
Judge: Yourself as accused number one pertaining the count of fraud involving certain bid in respect to a tender to the value of 228 million, as a cc used number one, how do you plead to this count.
Matlala: I plead guilty.
