Three suspects have been shot dead following a shootout with the police on the Buccleuch Interchange in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Police received an intelligence information about a group of men driving in three separate vehicles around the malls, and they are suspected of being involved with the “Rolex gang”.
The suspects were spotted by police along the N3 and a high-speech chase and a shootout ensued.
Gauteng Police Spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says one suspect has been arrested.
“The TRT (Tactical Response Team) was backed up by Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Airwing and private security companies. The suspects’ vehicle came to a still on the Buccleuch Interchange. They were declared dead on the scene. While the police were busy processing the scene, the second identified vehicle was spotted on the traffic and stopped. The driver, who was alone in the car, was arrested and will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.”
