Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the mass shooting at Cleveland’s Jumpers informal settlement in Johannesburg.
The arrests follow a shooting incident in which 13 people were shot dead and 14 others wounded earlier this month.
The three Lesotho nationals were arrested on Tuesday at KwaMai-Mai Informal Settlement.
Gauteng police spokesperson, Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, says the suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
“National Intervention Unit and South African National Defence Force cracked the case when they arrested three suspects on 23 June 2026. Though intelligence gathering, the three Lesotho nationals were arrested at KwaMai-Mai informal settlement and one of them was found with more than hundred 9mm live ammunition at his house. Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni has welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for their meticulous investigation.”
