The Cameron Boozer era has begun in Memphis.
After selecting the Duke forward No. 3 overall in the 2026 NBA Draft on June 23, the Grizzlies have another young piece to add to their core. They also have a new jersey number for the 2026 All-American and Associated Press Player of the Year.
Boozer will wear No. 27 at FedExForum this fall.
He wore No. 12 during his four years at Christopher Columbus High School and during his only season at Duke. But that number is worn famously by Grizzlies star guard Ja Morant.
Boozer said after being drafted that he had to see which numbers were available before making a decision.

“Maybe 2 for my brother (Cayden), 21 maybe,” Boozer said. “I’ve got to see all the numbers on the roster and stuff to decide that.”
When asked if he could offer Morant money for No. 12, Boozer said: “He’s probably asking for too high.”
Instead, Boozer landed on No. 27, worn previously by former Grizzlies forward David Roddy and guard Kalin Lucas.
