Some residents in Bloemfontein, in the Free State say they are hopeful that Bafana Bafana will progress to the next stage of 2026 FIFA World Cup, and are willing to sacrifice their sleep to watch the match as they believe that the National soccer team will make them proud.
Bafana Bafana will play their final group stage match against South Korea at 3am and are currently 4th in Group A with only one point registered from two matches.
One of the residents told SABC that he hopes it will be worth sacrificing his sleep to watch the match live.
“I will sacrifice my sleep, and I hope it is worth it. But there’s a little bit of doubt; but let’s give it the benefit of the doubt and say maybe we will win and proceed to the next round. Our starting lineup is very important in terms of us progressing to that stage.”
But like many South African, he is also wary of a dangerous South Korea side.
“But then, I am also worried because South Korea, they way they are training, they look like they know what they are doing.”
As far as sleep is concerned, like many Bafana Bafana fans, he is hopeful for that all-important win that will propel South Africa out of the group stages.
“Yes, I will be watching the game at 3 am, hopefully it will be a draw, but we will see. We are just crossing fingers. I think they are going to win, I hope so.”
South Africa face Korea Republic at Monterry Stadium, in Guadalupe in Mexico and will carry the hopes more than 60 million people.
“And I know they will make us proud, and we must go out there boys and go all out.”
