What is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s jersey number for India?
India’s young batting sensation, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, was given his very first national jersey with the number three on the back, just before the team’s T20 fixtures against Ireland got underway.
The 15-year-old, who has secured his first selection for India ahead of the white-ball tour covering Ireland and England, will be wearing the No. 3 shirt.
The BCCI shared a video capturing the youngster’s reaction, and it’s safe to say the moment hit him harder than any bowler has managed to all year.
“It’s difficult to express in words. The reason I first picked up a bat and started practising at a cricket ground was to one day wear the India jersey, and that dream has come true today. It feels unreal,” Sooryavanshi said.

He went on to describe how the sight of the jersey made him grin uncontrollably, saying some moments in life arrive so suddenly that you simply don’t know how to respond, and this was one of them.
“I simply cannot explain this feeling in words. It feels like a dream. The moment I saw the jersey, I was so happy. I couldn’t stop smiling. Sometimes, things happen in your life that you never even imagine, and when they do, you are unable to react. That was exactly my reaction,” he added.

How did Vaibahv Sooryavanshi get selected for the India T20 squad?
Over the last twelve months, Sooryavanshi has built a reputation as one of Indian cricket’s most exciting young talents through sheer weight of performance.
Right before this tour, he was on fire again for India A, as he smashed 94 runs off just 29 deliveries in the tri-series final. It was a knock that included the fastest List A half-century ever recorded, reaching fifty in only 11 balls.
That wasn’t a one-off. Earlier in the year, he played a starring role in India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph, scoring 175 off 80 balls in the final against England, still the highest individual score ever made in an Under-19 World Cup final.
He carried that momentum straight into the IPL, where his hitting helped fuel Rajasthan Royals’ playoff push, including a blistering 97 off 29 in the Eliminator and 96 off 47 in Qualifier 2.
