Outcome of Island Wide League 2026 regulatory breaches

SINGAPORE, 23 JUNE 2026 – The Football Association of Singapore’s Competitions Department has reviewed three recent Island Wide League (IWL) matches and determined that Ayer Rajah Gryphons FC, GFA Petir FC, and Bedok South Avenue SC are in breach of substitution regulations concerning the fielding of Under-23 Singaporean players.

In all three matches, the infringing clubs failed to maintain the required minimum of two Under-23 Singaporean players on the field following substitutions.

In the IWL match on 7 June 2026 between Simei United FC and Ayer Rajah Gryphons FC, Ayer Rajah Gryphons started with two U23 Singaporean players but were reduced to one for a period of six minutes between the 54th and 60th minute. 

In the matches on 13 June 2026, GFA Petir FC — who began with three U23 Singaporean players — had only one U23 Singaporean player remaining on the field for the final 21 minutes of their match against Mattar Sailors FC. 

On the same day, Bedok South Avenue SC — who began with two U23 Singaporean players — had only one U23 Singaporean player on the field from the 69th minute of their match against Westwood El’Junior FC.

These actions constitute a breach of  Articles 35.2 and 35.3 of the IWL 2026 Competition Regulations, which require each club to field a minimum of two Under-23 players of Singaporean nationality during the first half, and stipulate that any substituted U23 player must be replaced by another U23 player, unless the substitution is due to a sending-off.

In accordance with Article 35.6 of the IWL 2026 Competition Regulations, the victory and three points have been awarded to the non-infringing team in each case, with the score to remain or a 3-0 win awarded to the non-infringing team, whichever is the greater.
