The Madlanga Commission in Pretoria will on Tuesday morning hear an application for the testimony of Witness K to be heard in camera.
Witness K, an inspector at the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, is expected to testify on the precious stone case, which implicates traffic officials in the department.
The precious stones were allegedly stolen from a private residential apartment in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
Witness K has, in an affidavit, requested that their evidence be heard behind closed doors.
Witness K says their testimony may implicate other law enforcement officials in alleged criminal activity.
The EMPD inspector is expected to testify on the role played by law enforcement officials and a civilian in an alleged scheme to obtain the precious stones from their owner.
Witness K further states that their testimony identifies a senior member of the metro police department and details the role that the individual allegedly played in the scheme.
