ESPN analyst Matt Miller took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he is lucky to be alive after a serious car accident.
Miller revealed he was involved in the near-fatal accident in Missouri, which led to him being airlifted to Mercy Hospital, where he had surgery to amputate his left arm.
Miller also noted he suffered multiple fractures and broken ribs.
“Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital,” Miller said. “I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this.”
“As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs,” Miller added. “I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.”

Miller also thanked all of those who have reached out to him to offer their love and support in the wake of this scary situation.
“Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time,” Miller added in his statement. “I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.”
Matt Miller’s career
Matt Miller has been with ESPN since 2021, according to his bio page.
He started out as an NFL Draft contributor before becoming a year-round employee of the company in 2022, serving as an analyst and insider.
Miller made his on-air debut in April of 2023 for Day 3 of the NFL Draft in Kansas City.
He has since appeared on ESPN shows such as NFL Live, SportsCenter and Get Up!, and he provides great NFL Draft content, including news, rumors and mock drafts.

Prior to his stint as ESPN, Miller worked for Bleacher Report as the lead NFL Draft writer for over a decade from 2010 to 2021.
Before Bleacher Report, Miller was the director of scouting for New Era Scouting from 2006 to 2010.
He also served as a coach and recruiting coordinator for the CFL’s Joplin Crusaders from 2006 to 2008.
