The Boston Celtics are reportedly a finalist for Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade, and Jaylen Brown would seemingly be gone if the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks agree to a deal.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Celtics trading for Antetokounmpo would be achieved through a Brown-centric package. The star guard had his best season last season, and his name has been hot in trade rumors. According to Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, there is no friction between Brown and the Celtics, and he is “intrigued” by the idea of leading his own team.
Whether that team is actually the Bucks or not remains to be seen. Charania reported on Monday that the Bucks would not trade Brown to a third team and would just keep him. Regardless of whether the Bucks trade Antetokounmpo to the Celtics in exchange for Brown or not, Brown wants to see the whole situation come to an end in the next 48 hours, according to Yahoo Sports’ Kelly Iko.
“Given that the Celtics’ offer is contingent on Jaylen Brown’s inclusion — despite a denial that has amused rival executives — there’s an increasing sense that not only is Brown comfortable with the idea of leaving Boston and being traded to Milwaukee, but is hoping to find a resolution over the next 48 hours, league sources said,” Iko wrote on Monday.
Understandably, Brown wants to see this situation come to an end so he can focus on getting ready for next season. It’s hard to do that with trade rumors looming, knowing he could be playing for a team other than the Cletics for the first time in his career.
