The Philadelphia 76ers will head into the 2026 NBA draft under the guidance of new President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey. The Sixers will be looking to his guidance in order to make the right decision with the No. 22 overall pick and continue growing as a franchise.
The Sixers have one of the better cores in the league. Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe speak for themselves while Joel Embiid and Paul George can still contribute at a high level when the time comes. That was shown in the playoffs when Philadelphia rallies from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Boston Celtics in Round 1. Therefore, logic says the Sixers just need some help around the margins for themselves to move forward.
A mock draft performed by CBS Sports has the Sixers selecting Duke guard Isaiah Evans with the No. 22 pick:
Peat is someone who has been connected to the 76ers throughout the draft cycle. If he’s off the board, I see the 76ers going BPA. Evans went from almost strictly a pure catch-and-shoot 3-point specialist at Duke during his freshman year to a legit No. 2 scoring option on the No. 1 overall seed in college basketball. Evans almost doubled the amount of 3-pointers he took from this year to last and still knocked them down at a 36.1% clip.
The Sixers have certainly worked out big men such as Koa Peat, Chris Cenac Jr., and others, but Evans is a player who makes sense for Philadelphia at No. 22. He can shoot the ball at a high clip with range, can put the ball on the floor and create for others, and has a high basketball IQ which will serve him well at the next level.
