The Toronto Maple Leafs have already named their next head coach, and it’s not Wisconsin great Joe Pavelski.
Pavelski’s name came up as a wild card in the interview process, though the Leafs opted to go with Jim Heller.
Heller, a former assistant under Mike Babcock, ultimately made way more sense than Pavelski ever did.
That said, the Badgers legend may still have his eyes on being a coach, even if it’s not in the NHL.
Badgers’ Todd Milewski said Mike Hastings has “had conversations with Joe Pavelski about continuing his involvement with the program “and maybe even growing it.” Too soon to say how that’ll turn out.”
Fresh off a National Championship appearance, one could only imagine how much the Badgers program could take off with further backing by a legend like Pavelski.
