Nebraska football will host a major event at Memorial Stadium this weekend. The Huskers will host the Red Sea Rising event on Saturday night.
The event will include the second annual Battle of the Boneyard 7-on-7 Tournament, and a special announcement will be made at the end of the night. Some of the top 7-on-7 teams from around the country are expected to participate in this weekend’s tournament.
Last year was the first time Nebraska hosted the Battle of the Boneyard 7-on-7, and the event was viewed as a massive success. When speaking to Sports Nightly on the radio on June 4, head coach Matt Rhule acknowledged the importance of the fan base in making events like the Red Sea Rising a success.
“We have the best fan base in college sports. They’re the most loyal fan base. For the finals, how can we fill that stadium up? Because we have people who love the Huskers and love the competition, they’ll come watch.”
The head coach would like to see the crowd exceed 10,000 people on Saturday night. Rhule also believes that fans will be critical to making the event a successful recruiting weekend.
“Let’s show these recruits that we have the best facilities, we have a great place to live, we have a great education but we also have the best fans in the world. So that’s kind of our thought of how we elevate it this year.”
The Battle of the Boneyard championship rounds begin in Memorial Stadium at approximately 7 p.m. CT.
