The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says cold to cool weather conditions can be expected across most parts of the country from today.
Provinces likely to be affected include Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, the Free State, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
SAWS has also issued a warning for strong and potentially damaging winds in the Northern Cape, with conditions expected to persist until Saturday.
Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela says isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over parts of the central and western regions of the country into the weekend.
Thobela says, “Partly cloudy conditions are expected across most parts of the country, with cold temperatures over the central and eastern parts of the country, we’re expecting cool conditions over the northern parts of South Africa…
“Thirty percent of showers and rain is expected over the northern parts of the Northern Cape and we’re still expecting isolated showers along the south coast of the country into the east coast as well as covering the interior of KwaZulu-Natal. There is a yellow level one warning of windy conditions expected over the extreme western part of the Northern Cape, which may result in vehicles struggling to navigate around those areas.”
The weather service says motorists travelling in affected areas of the Northern Cape should exercise caution due to strong winds that could make driving conditions difficult.
Scattered rainfall is also expected along parts of the south and east coasts, as well as in the interior of KwaZulu-Natal.
