One of the nation’s top 2027 recruits, John Meredith III has officially set a commitment date between three finalists, he announced Tuesday on social media.
Per his announcement, Meredith will be announcing his decision this upcoming Friday, June 19, and is set to choose either Alabama, Texas, or Texas A&M.
An elite defensive back, Meredith is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect in the 2027 class, per the 247Sports Composite. Rated a five-star recruit, Meredith is also ranked as the nation’s No. 1 cornerback in the 2027 cycle, as well as the No. 2 player in the state of Texas where he attends North Crowley High School.
Alabama’s 2027 class currently features eight total commitments, none of which are from defensive backs. Should the talented cornerback commit to Alabama this Friday, Meredith would become the first in that group, as well as the Crimson Tide‘s second five-star prospect this cycle alongside quarterback Elijah Haven.
