The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) says it is moving from talk to action as it intensifies efforts to tackle youth unemployment across South Africa. Speaking at the 50th Anniversary Youth Day commemoration, the NYDA representative said they have done this through a partnership with YOMO.

The agency distributed 10,000 SIM cards to young people, enabling them to apply for jobs and funding opportunities without incurring data costs.
Since August 1 2025, the NYDA has funded 1,300 youth-owned businesses with a total of R28 million.
The agency says these initiatives are focused on empowering young people in rural areas, urban centres, and informal settlements to drive inclusive economic participation.
