Police have confirmed that the body of 21-year-old Zenande Chiloane has been found.
This follows a nine- day search for his body- with reports saying that it was found floating in the Crocodile River, in Mpumalanga.
He is believed to have drowned, after the vehicle he was driving in lost control and plunged into the river last Sunday.
Johannes Potgieter, the Captain of the Mpumalanga Police Diving Unit says, “It’s been nine- days now, that we’ve been searching for this gentleman. We started this morning as usual, we put out the drones, to search the river and to see if they can’t find anything. There are certain sections, where the drones can’t see under the trees and under the reeds. So, the river breaks up and makes islands, so what we did, is now every time the drone pilots came back, and told us remember this section we can’t see under the trees, we go in and we swim those sections and then we searched the islands where they couldn’t see this morning. While we were searching for this island then we managed to find him. He was stuck under a tree, in the water, we saw him and we managed to get him out and hopefully now it will bring closure to the family.”
