After several key recruiting wins, Michigan State has found itself on the losing end of a key recruiting battle. 4-star cornerback Deontay Malone has made the decision to commit to Ohio State, choosing the Buckeyes over the Spartans.
Malone was a top target for the Spartans, who hosted him on an official visit on May 29th, but a trip to Columbus this weekend propelled the Buckeyes into landing the Massilon (OH) talent.
A standout in Ohio, it was always going to be a tough pull for the Spartans, especially over the Buckeyes, but the MSU staff made it about as close of a race as it could get.
Now, the Spartans will turn their attention to Kayden Battle, who the Spartans are in a heads up battle with Pitt for. Battle is currently finishing a visit to Pitt, previously having visited Michigan State on May 29th.
BOOM! 2027 Massillon (OH) DB Deontay Malone has committed to Ohio State!
The 6’0 Malone is rated as the No. 33 CB in the 2027 class and chose the Buckeyes over Auburn, Michigan, and Michigan State.
