Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, has emphasised the necessity for TVET colleges to provide qualifications that align with global demand to address the skills gap.
She was speaking at the launch of a new Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Centre of Excellence and Learning at the Eastcape Midlands TVET College in Kariega in the Eastern Cape.
The facilities are aimed at strengthening occupational and technical skills development through hands-on training in advanced technologies.
Dube-Ncube says, “We must create the skills that are wanted by the industry. If the industry must come to our lecture halls, let them come to our lecture halls. If the industry must help us teach our teachers, let them help us teach our teachers. So that we can give the skills and render the skills that are useful to the development of our country. So that we become valuable to boost our economy, of this province, and the economy of this country.”
