Disgruntled victims of the June floods last year in Mthatha that claimed the lives of more than 100 people, say they feel let down by the Eastern Cape government. The victims are gathered at Slovo Park where the Ibandla LaseMthini Evangelical Movement is holding a prayer and candlelight service in honour of the flood victims.
Wednesday marks a year since the disaster. One of the affected flood victims, Siphosakhe Vuso says he had to go back to an unsafe home as he awaits a temporary structure.

‘I’m one who was left behind according to the criteria that was used, which was not favouring us as we are very close people to the river. We believe we are in a danger zone, but nothing has happened ever since the mayor of KSD told us to go back and wait there for the temporary structures. But up until now, there is nothing about us,” says Vuso.
