CLEVELAND – Let’s see if Jazz Chisholm Jr. stays with one of Aaron Judge’s heftier bats, which he used to great success on Sunday.
Or maybe he’ll borrow one of Jose Caballero’s bats again, or perhaps uses one of his own, or another teammate.
On Sunday, after striking out three times, Chisholm used a Judge bat to slug a three-run homer to cap a five-run eighth inning against the Red Sox in the Bronx – a 6-1 Yankee win.
“I don’t find the story as interesting as everyone else,’’ said manager Aaron Boone, before Monday night’s series against the Guardians at Progressive Field.
“I mean he grabbed a bat, here we go. At the end of the day, he’s got a ton of ability and he’s really good at this game.’’
Over his last 19 games, since May 13, Chisholm is batting .306 with a .919 OPS.
It’s the Yankees’ first road trip without Judge in their lineup, dealing with a first right rib stress fracture that will keep him sidelined for a significant stretch.
Tonight, it’s the Yanks’ Will Warren opposing Cleveland’s Gavin Williams at Progressive Field, where we’ll be live:
