The Alabama Crimson Tide swept the St. John’s Red Storm 2-0 during the Tuscaloosa Super Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium this weekend.
Alabama was red hot at the plate across both matchups against the Johnnies. The Tide outscored St. John’s 15-2 throughout both games, and Alabama has officially punched their ticket to the 2026 College World Series in Omaha as a result.
Here are three takeaways from Alabama baseball’s sweep over St. John’s in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
Tyler Fay dominates in his final home start at The Joe
Fay has been one of the most reliable pitchers in Alabama’s rotation throughout the entire 2026 campaign. The Crimson Tide star surrendered just two hits over 7.1 innings of work, as Fay was almost flawless against the Johnnies on Saturday afternoon.
The flamethrower will play a critical role on the mound during the College World Series, as Fay will need to keep things rolling into Omaha next weekend.
Justin Lebron stays red hot on Saturday, records 3 total hits
Lebron was the Tide’s hottest hitter during Saturday’s 8-0 victory over St. John’s. The star shortstop went 3-for-4 at the plate, while also driving in two runs on an RBI double in the eighth inning.
Lebron has continued to perform at a much higher level throughout the entirety of the postseason, and the shortstop will look to stay red hot at the plate throughout Alabama’s time in Omaha.
Jason Torres hits a series-clinching grand slam on Sunday
Torres is now credited with one of the greatest hits in Alabama baseball history following the seventh inning of game two on Sunday. The third baseman was able to connect for a seventh inning gram slam which ultimately gave the Tide a 7-2 lead, as Torres’ moonshot proved to be more than enough insurance when the game resumed on Monday.
Alabama ultimately won the game 7-2, and Torres now finds himself cemented in Crimson Tide history forever.
Alabama will face the winner of the Atlanta Super Regional between Oklahoma and Kansas, as the Tide will now head to Omaha in hopes of securing their first National Championship in program history.
