AUBURN, AL — Ole Miss baseball pitcher Taylor Rabe will play in an NCAA Tournament super regional game for the first time. There will be a lot on the line.
Ole Miss (40-21) is facing Auburn (42-21) on June 6 (4 p.m., ESPN) in Game 2 of the Auburn Super Regional. The series is 1-0 in Ole Miss‘ favor after the Rebels won Game 1 6-4 on June 5.
The Rebels and Tigers are facing off in a best-of-three series at Plainsman Park. With one more win, Ole Miss would advance to its first super regional since 2022 when it won the national championship.
Auburn will start Alex Petrovic (10-2, 3.19 ERA), coach Butch Thompson said.
Rabe is an intimidating presence on the mound. He is a 6-foot-6 redshirt sophomore from Greenville, South Carolina. He is 5-3 with a 3.84 ERA, and has been pitching his best recently.
Rabe has pitched six innings in each of his past three starts, and has allowed one earned run over his past 12 innings.
Rabe started Ole Miss’ second game of the Lincoln Regional as well. He got the win, allowing one earned run over six innings in the win over Nebraska.
It leaves Cade Townsend (5-3, 3.94 ERA) available to start a potential Game 3 on June 7.
