The Southern African Development Community (SADC) region says it remains committed to preventing cross-border and transnational organised crimes.
The bloc’s chiefs of police will host their 31st annual meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi, next week.
The gathering will be opened by Malawian Minister of Homeland Security Peter Mukhito.

The heads of police in the SADC will focus on emerging and trans-national organised crime, among others, cybercrime, financial crime, proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons.
They will also pay attention to trafficking in persons, smuggling of migrants, and illicit drug trafficking. Motor vehicle crime, terrorism and other cross-border crimes affecting the region.
The heads of police will review activities and progress in relation to SADC instruments adopted to combat cross-border crime.
SADC says the outcomes of the meeting will strengthen regional security and stability, contributing to the stable, peaceful, and prosperous SADC region.
