The Detroit Lions have seen their franchise completely turn around under head coach Dan Campbell. After making the playoffs just three times between the year 2000 and 2022, Detroit not only went to the post-season in back to back seasons in 2023 and 2024, but advanced to the NFC Conference Championship in 2023.
While 2025 was a down year (finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs) the team is looking forward to once again proving that they are a true championship caliber team in 2026. Unfortunately, one of their young wide receivers will miss the entire year.
Here are the details.

Lions Wide Receiver Tears His ACL, Will Miss Entire 2026 Season
During practice this week, Detroit’s rookie receiver Kendrick Law tore his ACL. He will be unable to play in the upcoming season. On Tuesday June 2, Lions coach Dan Campbell reported that Law suffered the injury while participating in a non-contact drill.
“Hate it for him,” Campbell said. “The kid was doing a good job. But that’s – it’s part of it. It’s a harsh reality. He’ll get it out of the way early, have his whole career in front of him.”
The fifth-round pick from Kentucky was expected to compete for the No. 5 receiver position and contribute to kick returns in the upcoming season.
Last season, Law caught 53 passes for 540 yards and three touchdowns for Kentucky after spending his first three years at Alabama. During his college career, he caught 86 passes for 883 yards and served as Georgia’s primary kick returner.
There will be high expectations for No. 3 receiver Isaac TeSlaa in his second season. The team still returns their top two receivers in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. Greg Dortch was signed this offseason as the team’s number four receiver and punt returner.
A number of players, including veterans Tom Kennedy and Cedrick Wilson Jr., as well as young receivers Malik Cunningham, Jackson Meeks, and Dominic Lovett are competing for the final position at receiver.
Kendrick Law’s Complete College Career
- 46 games played
- 86 receptions
- 883 receiving yards
- 4 receiving touchdowns
- 83 rushing yards on 16 attempts
- 31 kick returns
- 710 kick return yards
- 22.9 yards per kick return
