A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 25-year-old girlfriend in Basani Mphakati near Malamulele, Limpopo.
Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba says the woman was found with multiple stab wounds after running from the suspect’s house calling for help. Emergency personnel declared her dead at the scene.
Ledwaba says the suspect was later handed over to police by a family member and is expected to appear in court on Monday.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident and commended the swift action that led to the arrest of the suspect.
She further urged communities to take a firm stand against domestic violence and gender-based violence, encouraging victims and community members to report incidents of abuse before they escalate into tragedy.
