Chelsea will not allow Joao Pedro to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, even for a world record bid, according to Ben Jacobs.
The Blues are keen on keeping the Brazilian international striker (eight caps), who bagged 20 goals and nine assists in 50 appearances in his debut campaign.
Chelsea are rebuilding their squad again after another disappointing campaign, and he is one of the few expected to be a cornerstone under new boss Xabi Alonso.
Barcelona have been linked with Joao Pedro as they search for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
Yesterday, Barca’s sporting director Deco commented on how well he knows the Chelsea star’s entourage.
However, the Club World Cup champions are fighting back through the media, reiterating their intent on keeping Joao Pedro.
The player is reportedly happy to stay put despite Spanish publications claiming he will push for a Stamford Bridge exit.
Chelsea already have so many issues to sort and cannot afford to be in the market for a new striker, especially when they have a world-class one on their hands.
Chelsea pour cold water on Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes links
Yesterday, reports from a popular Chelsea aggregator claimed the club was looking at Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.
The Blues could use a central midfield addition with or without the potential departure of Enzo Fernandez.
Guimaraes especially fits the bill. He has been linked with a move to West London since his time in Brazil.
His engine, distribution, and leadership qualities make him the ideal partner for Moises Caicedo in the double-six pivot that Alonso loves to use.
He also has Premier League experience, which the club is reportedly looking to add to the squad this summer.
However, it appears Chelsea are not interested in him or his teammate Tonali, as they have other ideas.
