Deputy President Paul Mashatile is visiting various areas on the Cape Flats on Wednesday to assess progress made in crime fight through Operation Prosper.
Hundreds of South African National Defense Force soldiers have been deployed to crime hotspots since the first of April during the operation.
The effectiveness of their deployment has been largely questioned, with high levels of crime and murders still occurring across the Cape Flats.
Mashatile is expected to visit Mitchells Plain, Gugulethu and Manenberg.
He will be accompanied by various other government and SAPS officials.
