The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has written to National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza to demand that she oppose President Cyril Ramaphosa’s legal review of the Section 89 Independent Panel Report on the Phala Phala matter.
The party says it also wants an inclusive process in the appointment of legal representation.
This is after the President filed papers in the Western Cape High Court against the Section 89 Independent Panel Report in order to review the recommendation of his impeachment investigation.
Parliament has resolved to refer the matter to an impeachment committee following the Constitutional Court judgment. The African Transformation Movement has also filed papers to request the matter to be heard as early as August.
The EFF says if the Speaker fails to respond within 48 hours, then the party will seek urgent relief in a competent court.
